(2’ bare root) Syringa vulgaris - 6-32’ tall, 8-12’ spread. The common lilac is a leggy, upright shrub, sprouting aromatic purple flowers in mid-May. Lilacs need very little maintenance, transplant easily, and can live for hundreds of years. They will grow in a wide variety of soil types but prefer neutral to slightly acidic soil. Lilacs prefer full sun, but partial shade is fine as well. Spreading firewood ash around the drip line of the bush can help produce bigger and better blooms. Zone 3-7
