Chestnut
(12-18” bare root) All hail the mighty chestnut tree! America was built on the chestnut. It’s a great source of food and wood for humans and animals. We’ve sourced these American hybrid chestnut seedlings from a Vermont nursery. The farm has developed their chestnuts from great orchards and collections with high-quality pollen parents. There is a good chance that many of these will make resilient and productive trees, with good to excellent blight resistance. They are complex hybrid selected for hardiness in Zone 4 in a reasonable protective zone (they will do ok in a 3B). They do best in well-drained soil with a pH below neutral and full sun min 6hrs/day. They will not do well with wet feet all the time. You will need two for any nut to fruit. Zone: 4 (3B)
