(2-3’ bare root) Juglans nigra - Grows to 50-70' tall with a well-formed trunk devoid of low branches. Highly prized as a wood product. The black walnut will start producing nuts in 4-6 years that ripen in the fall and can be consumed by wildlife and humans. Unisexual flowers; produces “juglone” toxin, which inhibits the growth of other plants around it. Prefer moist soils, but will tolerate drier conditions. Zone 4
